Where Self-Care and Social Justice Collide to Create Change
The Experience
S.O.A.R is a cohort model program purposed to support single mothers with tips and tools to develop solid self-care rituals, and the skills to advocate for themselves, their families, community, and cause. Simultaneously, their children are engaged in aeSTEAM programming. Program sessions are from 6-8pm once a week.
Part 1: You Are The M.V.P.This is the foundational section of the program through which moms have an opportunity to begin to build personal, mission, and vision statements and develop plans to begin to redefine and implement success for themselves and their families. We believe strongly that advocacy starts with selfcare and self advocacy and we lay the groundwork for both here.

Part 2: Your Community/Your CauseIn Part 2 we begin to dig into understanding who makes up their communities and what the needs are that directly effect their communities, as well as the power of their stories to begin to drive change. We believe it is important to understand the power of community, social capital and know who key stakeholder are and we go deep with that in this section.

Part 3: You Be the ChangeThis is when we bring everything together and begin to focus on the 5 Ms: mission, message, mobilization, movement and money. Moms are supported through the development of the plan to move their ideas for change forward, and have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and plans to win financial support to begin doing the work to create change.
